     Children across the Oklahoma City metro can get hands-on with icy cold and culinary sciences, tinker with technology, explore the science of outer space and more during Science Museum Oklahoma's "Weird Winter Wonders" and "Saturday Science" Winter Break Camps set for December. "December is the perfect month to explore the super cool side of science alongside the science of some of the things we love about the holiday season," said Clint Stone, director of education and training at SMO. "SMO's Winter Break Camps are a great opportunity to continue to learn in engaging ways beyond the classroom, especially during a busy holiday season when parents need every extra hour they can get." Camps are available for children in grades 1-6. Themes, times and dates are: · Science Souffle: Seasonings Greetings!, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10: Get twisted up with soft pretzels, see if the snozzberries taste like snozzberries with SMO's lickable wallpaper and try honeycomb toffee that's simply the bee's knees. Garnish Saturday with a dash of culinary science and spark some epicuriosity! · Let it Precipitate Ice Particles: A Winter Holiday Extravaganza!, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17: Tinker with old-timey toys, take a tour of the Pullman Parlor Car, make popcorn the old fashioned way and explore the coldest stuff in the museum with liquid nitrogen hot chocolate slushies. · Weird Winter Wonders, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 22-23 and 29-30: Four unique days of camp will explore chilling science, go behind the scenes of Science Live, blast off into space, uncover the marvel of dinosaurs and much more. "Saturday Science" camps are $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. "Weird Winter Wonders" camps are $90 per two-day session for members and $100 for nonmembers.   Fall Break Camp 2024 Fall Break Camp Theme: SAFE: Saving Animals from Extinction Some animals are facing extinction and need our help! “Kid power” is an amazing force that can be put into action for the animals. SAFE stands for “saving animals from extinction” and is an international conservation initiative created by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Campers will learn what is being done to keep their favorite endangered species at the Tulsa Zoo SAFE, and what they can do at home to make an impact across the globe.
